At The Spec, a gym membership in Lindsay costs $45 a month. That is the auto-withdrawal rate at Spectrum Fitness Centre, where a single month is $55, a day pass is $10, and your first visit is free. Every membership includes 24-hour access, every room on the floor, and tanning.
Prices are the first thing most people want to know before they walk into a gym. Here is exactly what training at The Spec costs, what you get for it, and how to pay the least for the way you actually train.
What does a gym membership in Lindsay cost per month?
A month costs $55, or $45 on auto withdrawal. Either way you get swipe-card access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the same gym as everyone else: separate free-weight, machine and cardio rooms, indoor turf, a private women's area, lockers, showers and tanning.
If you would rather pay up front, the longer plans bring the cost down:
| Plan | Price | Works out to |
|---|---|---|
| Day pass | $10 | one visit |
| One week | $25 | seven days |
| One month | $55 | $55 a month |
| Auto withdrawal | $45 a month | $45 a month |
| 60 days | $100 | $50 a month |
| 90 days | $150 | $50 a month |
| 180 days | $270 | $45 a month |
| 365 days | $365 | about $30 a month |
The year is the best value: $365, which is a dollar a day, with no admin fee. Every other plan carries a one-time $20 activation fee.

Are there cheaper rates for students, seniors and couples?
Yes: students and seniors pay $25 a month. That is on auto withdrawal, or $250 for a full year. Shorter terms are $40 for 30 days, $100 for 4 months and $200 for 8 months, all with the same 24-hour access, equipment and tanning as every other member.
- Couples: $70 a month for two people on auto withdrawal ($100 for a single month), $260 for 90 days, $500 for 180 days, or $625 for a year.
- Families: $75 a month on auto withdrawal, or $800 for a year.
- Corporate: staff at Ross Memorial Hospital, nurses, first responders and Central East Correctional Centre pay $25 a month on auto withdrawal, or $250 a year.
If you are newer to training or coming back after time off, the seniors page explains how we help you get started on the machines.
Is $30 a month a lot for a gym membership?
Not with 24-hour access included. At The Spec, about $30 a month is what the yearly membership works out to, and that price includes round-the-clock access, every room on the floor and tanning, with no admin fee on the year. For most people training three or more times a week, that is under $3 a visit.
What matters more than the headline number is what is included. Check whether a price covers round-the-clock access, free weights heavy enough for real training, and extras like tanning, or whether those cost more on top.
A low monthly price can also hide an annual fee or a long contract. At The Spec, the only extra is the one-time $20 activation fee, and the yearly membership does not have one.
Is $200 a month expensive for a gym?
For a membership, yes. $200 a month is closer to what personal training or a small-group coaching program costs. A membership at The Spec is $45 to $55 a month, so a membership plus two $50 personal training sessions still comes to under $200.
Personal training at The Spec is $50 for a one-hour session, booked as you need it on top of a regular membership. See personal training for who it suits.
Is a day pass worth it?
Yes, under five visits a month. A $10 day pass is worth it if you are visiting Lindsay, training a few times a month, or trying the gym before you join. At five or more visits a month, the $45 auto-withdrawal membership costs less than paying by the day.
Most people who train regularly pass that point within a month. Canada's adult movement guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity a week, plus muscle strengthening twice a week.
Your first visit is always free, so drop in during staffed hours and we will show you around before you spend anything.
How do I pay, and is there a contract?
No long-term contract. Pay by cash, credit, debit or tap, for any term from a $10 day pass to a full year. Auto withdrawal gives you the $45 monthly rate, and the full year is $365, with no admin fee.
